SUMMARY:YTP-REVIEWING YOUR RESULTS AND COOKING GINGERBREAD
DESCRIPTION:Participants will identify their top interest cluster and walk to a poster displaying the word and pictures of careers relating to it. They will discuss what they like about the example jobs on the chart. Participants will then watch videos of potential careers that fall under the different interest categories. In the second hour\, participants will practice their knife skills\, use a whisk\, a microwave\, and measure ingredients to make Gingerbread Fudge. They will review the recipe before starting\, gather and prepare ingredients\, follow recipe steps\, and clean up directions. Participants will get to taste their finished product. This will enable the individual to be better equipped for independently using their knife skills and the microwave to prepare a dessert and how to relate their interests in cooking to future employment opportunities.

SUMMARY:Cooking Class –Baked Potato Chips
DESCRIPTION:Participants will practice their knife and cooking skills by helping make Baked Potato Chips. They will review the recipe before starting the cooking process\, gather and measure ingredients\, follow recipe steps\, review and use safe knife skills\, and clean up directions. Participants will get to taste their finished product and take home a copy of the step-by-step recipe (including clean-up directions) if wanted. This will enable the individual to be better equipped for independently using their knife skills and oven to make a snack.

Staying on Course is Week 5 of 11.\nThis session acknowledges that no one can eliminate all feelings of stress and frustration\, but that we can guard ourselves against becoming discouraged and giving up on our goals. Discouragement can come from outside and inside ourselves\, and so can encouragement. With MHI Facilitator support\, Staying on Course helps participants recognize those outer and inner voices that either discourage or encourage them\, and identifying what stress management techniques help them stay on track towards their goals.
