SUMMARY:YTP-Cooking Class Friendswood High School
DESCRIPTION:Participants will practice their cooking skills by helping make peanut butter and chocolate chip pancakes. They will review the recipe before starting the cooking process\, gather and measure ingredients\, follow recipe steps\, and clean-up directions. Participants will get to taste their finished product. This will enable the individual to be better equipped for independently using a griddle to make breakfast.\nNOTE: Recipe will be modified to be gluten free for classes as needed.

SUMMARY:Youth Transition Program – Exploring Life After High School II
DESCRIPTION:Youth at Friendswood HS will get to dive into another game as a group\, called Adulting 101\, where they will get to practice skills such as: budgeting for one’s needs\, picking a career based off of interests and expenses\, and other daily living tasks that might be required of them in the future as independent adults. By practicing these skills in a fun format with their peers\, participants will have increased knowledge and understanding of what adult responsibilities outside of a school setting look like and be better prepared for setting up goals for their own futures with their loved ones.

SUMMARY:Youth Transition Program  – Exploring Life After High School I
DESCRIPTION:Youth attending Friendswood High School will get to dive into a game called the “College Fit” game\, where they get to see what it is like to make decisions on vocational goals after high school\, navigate the process of going to college for further education\, and the types of careers they could receive with a degree. By participating in the game\, participants will get hands on experience with implementing SMART goals in a fun format and be able to explore interests and new ideas relating to possible future choices for themselves.

SUMMARY:Youth Transition Program – Healthy Reactions
DESCRIPTION:Youth from Friendswood HS  will learn about healthy reactions to challenges or problems that can arise with goals they set for themselves. We’ll complete activities geared towards creating positive inner self talk and how to handle failure or setbacks in a way that is not damaging to one’s self esteem or future goal setting efforts. By participating in this activity\, participants will strengthen their ability to set realistic goals\, will have an increased understanding of the importance of emotional regulation\, and will be able to practice positive self-talk in a peer setting.
